Trisulapura Mahatmyam

The Glory & Grandeur of Tiruchuzhi: Unique indeed is the pre-eminence that Trisulapuram (Tiruchuzhi) enjoys in the history of human race. Puranic legends chronicle and celebrate the sanctity of Tiruchuzhi from antiquity. Lord Siva saved this hallowed city from the ravaging waters of the Deluge by the mighty eddy created by His Trident not once but in all the four yugas. Deluges are merely heard of; but the overwhelming pain of samsara is an occurrence that is daily experienced. Hence the Divine, even under the mundane conditions willing to save humanity from the grievous ocean of samsara decreed Trisulapuram to be the "avatara sthalam" - the place of birth - of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi. The fact that he, by his teaching of the path of knowledge coupled with compassion akin to that of Mother Sahayavalli (Goddess of Succour) of Tiruchuzhi, ferries the devotees across the samsaric ocean, enhances the importance of this hallowed city beyond all other kshetras. This book by Sri Viswanathaswamy contains information meticulously culled from various classics - Sanskrit and Tamil - and had the privilege of being perused closely by Sri Bhagavan himself and was printed in 1946. This first rendition in English is by 'Kays' and is an offering at the Lotus Feet of Sri Bhagavan.
